THE HURDLES AND OBSTACLES IN THE PRODUCTION OF ‘KHAWAAB MERE’

Today many pops, country, hip-hop, and EDM tracks have stolen our hearts. They are one of the present generation’s ‘needs.’ They have become a part of our life. The songs attract us because of the feelings the artists share through their songs. We know many things about the songs we love, and listening to the songs repeatedly makes us feel like we were connected to those songs. Well, there might be many things that we would not know about our favorite songs.

The song ‘KHAWAAB MERE’ is a loved song among the audience for its uniqueness. People have shown much love and attraction to the song. Many have called it their ‘favorite sad song.’ Many think that they know many things about the song, and they might even know ‘many’ things, but we’re sure that none of you would know the obstacles that were faced during the song production.

The first obstacle was finding the perfect chords to suit the emotions of the song. The song was written, and temporary vocals were recorded to write the chord progression.
Many chord progressions were chosen within the song’s key to suit the song’s ambiance, but none of them were good enough. Prateek said that they were not happy with the chords, and each time a chord progression disappointed them, they became more and more frustrated. After three days of researching, a good chord progression that fitted the song was made upon the melody of the song, and the first obstacle was however solved.
The second obstacle that occurred in the process of song production occurred while recording the vocals.

With the finalization of lyrics and the chords, the original vocals were about to be recorded, but a major problem seemed to seize the production of the song ‘KHAWAAB MERE.’ A massive construction was going on just beside the studio. The noise that came from the construction site was so loud and vibrant that the soundproof system could not even resist it. Prateek, in the interview, said: ” Forget about the vocals, it was impossible to sit in there.” For about eight days, they had to return from the studio, disappointed. Prateek said that “We left hope, we didn’t know how long it would take.”

Finally, on the 9th day, the construction work stopped and had been suspended for two days for some issues. Anmol and Prateek recorded the final and perfect vocals that day and got rid of the problem.

The third obstacle that took place during song production was the search for the proper instrument to be added in the pre-chorus and main chorus parts. The original vocals were recorded, and the chord progression was made, and now was the time for making the music for the track.

For about four days, both Anmol and Prateek were searching for the sounds that were made for this track. Many preset and samples were checked, many of them sounded good with the vocals for the song, but Anmol and Prateek were searching for the best sounds in saws, plucks, and bells.

They had hardly found a soft grand piano sound from the plugin NEXUS that suited the song. The problem occurred because Anmol and Prateek wanted to make an emotional Indian pop song, and most of the sounds available these days are for modern generic pop and house tracks.

After spending much time in searching for the unique sound, Prateek and Anmol thought of changing the ambience and vibe of the song, so that the sounds they liked could be used, but before doing that, the very same day they found the unique sound that was perfect for the song in a plugin called ANA2. Finally, the instruments were used, and music for the song was made, mixed and mastered in few days. Prateek and Anmol then sent the song to the label after facing three big hurdles in their way of the production of the song.
